Iroquois Golf Club began construction of its original nine holes in 1957 as a result of the St. Lawrence Seaway development and officially opened in 1959. Construction of eleven new greens and fairways created an eighteen hole course which opened in 1996. Modification to three holes was coincidental with contruction of a new clubhouse in 2006.
Its unique location on the St. Lawrence Seaway blend culture and athleticism into your golfing experience at Iroquois Golf Club. Frequently, golf shots into the third and tenth greens are made against the backdrop of large ocean vessels navigating the beautiful St. Lawrence river as they approach the majestic control dam. While playing the four holes along the river, these floating giants seem only a few club lengths away. Naming of holes to honour landmarks from the past will make your round a historical journey as you walk or ride over land once occupied by the old town of Iroquois.
This course is not just about history. Three sets of tees allow the golfer to match the course to his/her skill level. Many unsuspecting golfers playing the back tees , fooled by the open links design, encounter a greater challenge than expected. Water appears on fifteen holes and wind frequently demands thoughtful consideration when choosing clubs.
Following your round, check out the range of services offered in our modern clubhouse and take in the beaurtiful panoramic view from the Running Waters Pub. Numerous species of water fowl can be observed as you watch ocean vessels navigate the seaway.
Before returning home, consider the two kilometer drive to the the lock viewing area at Iroquois Point.
